Fired Aynor S.C. cop charged after asking woman to lift shirt to dismiss ticket
A former Aynor police officer was arrested Thursday after he allegedly offered to dismiss a woman's traffic ticket if she lifted her shirt.
The officer pulled over the woman in Horry County, according to the arrest warrant.
He "did offer to dismiss a traffic citation if the offender would pull up her shirt for him," the warrant stated.
Investigators did not provide any details on the traffic violation committed by the woman.
Mr. Jordan was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 7:46 a.m. Thursday and released at 10:28 a.m. on $5,000 bail, according to jail records.
Aynor Police Chief Mr. David Thompson issued a statement that department officials received a complaint regarding Mr. Jordan on May 2 and within an hour afterward he was placed on administrative leave with pay pending an internal investigation, according to a media report.
The next day the police department contacted SLED officials and turned the investigation over to them, SLED’s spokesman Mr. Thom Berry said.
On Wednesday, Mr. Jordan was reportedly fired from the police department for a departmental policy violation.
If convicted, Mr. Jordan faces up to one year in prison and up to $1,000 in fine for the misdemeanor charge.
