R.I. SUPREME COURT UPHOLDSCOP’S RAPE CONVICTION


PROVIDENCE — The Rhode Island Supreme Court has upheld the first-degree sexual assault conviction of Marcus Huffman, a Providence cop found guilty of raping a 19-year-old woman while on duty.  The total sentence imposed by Superior Court Judge Netti C. Vogel is 60 years, with 20 years of that suspended. At his Superior Court trial, the prosecution said that Huffman encountered the woman, who had been drinking heavily and had smoked marijuana, according to the court ruling, outside a Providence nightclub. The authorities alleged Huffman persuaded her to get into his police car, took her to a police substation and raped her in a bathroom. Huffman was later one of threecops initially investigating the matter after the woman reported what happened.


NOPD fires cop who was not reviewing rape cases when he said he was



The New Orleans Police Department fired cop Sgt. John Hunter who admitted to doing personal activities during hours that he was billing overtime to review rape cases, according to his attorney.  NOPD internal affairs investigators secretly followed Hunter while he was supposed to be working overtime, and found that he was doing personal activities and not actually working, Hessler said. Hessler said his client just billed for a block of hours, instead of breaking it down into separate hours when he actually worked.

Milwaukee Cop Sentenced to Prison For Pulling Drivers Over & Searching Their "Anal & Scrotal Areas"


 

A Milwaukee cop  Michael Vagnini has been sentenced to  2 years and two months prison for pulling men over for minor traffic violations and allegedly "conduct[ing] searches of [their] anal and scrotal areas, often inserting his fingers into their rectums."

Vagnini regularly pulled over drivers on a pretense of not wearing a seatbelt or of having darkly tinted windows and searched them without a legal reason, according to prosecutors.

Vagnini conducted searches of men's anal and scrotal areas, often inserting his fingers into their rectums, according to the criminal complaint. Vagnini acknowledged performing one of the searches, and at least one suspect said Vagnini planted drugs on him.

State law and police procedures prohibit officers from conducting body cavity searches. Only medical personnel are allowed to perform them, and police must first obtain a search warrant.

Rape trial of Garden Grov cop underway



A jury trial starts today in the case of a Garden Grove Calf.  cop Jesse Andrew Green, who faces charges not only of rape, but also of witness intimidation and threats.
It’s alleged that Green, who has been part of the GGPD since 2006, went to the Santa Ana home of a woman he had been dating and on April 26, 2006 sodomized her while she screamed and struggled to get away. Prosecutors say that Green “made derogatory and intimidating statements to frighten the victim.” Then, on Nov. 6, 2009 Green allegedly took a woman to his Huntington Beach apartment on their first date and violently sodomized her, and made threats. The victims were slow to report the attacks because they worried that Green would be able to use his position as a police officer to retaliate against them, according to the D.A.

Santa Ana and Huntington Beach investigated the incidents, and Green was arrested on Oct. 3, 2010.

Dallas cop charged with sexual assault turns himself in



DALLAS -- Dallas cop Edward Antunez, charged with one count of sexual assault, turned himself in to the Mesquite Police Department . According to a statement from the Dallas Police Department, the arrest stems from an incident that occurred in Mesquite on March 13 

Suspended Cranford NJ Police Officer Pleads Guilty to Harassment



A 12-year veteran Cranford cop named Brian Thomas pleaded guilty to harassing a woman while he was on duty two years ago, officials said. Thomas was suspended following the June 22, 2011 incident when he was charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual contact and second-degree official misconduct

Cop charged with forcing fugitives to perform sexual acts



 A Memphis cop named Brandon Berry is accused of forcing men to perform sexual acts in exchange for not arresting them on warrants. Police say one alleged incident involved a man Berry pulled over in the area of Lamar Avenue and Semmes Street. The victim had an outstanding warrant and claims he was forced to perform a sex act on Berry in order to avoid a trip to jail.

Central Floridacop suspended after he asks woman to shake out her bra


LAKELAND, Fla. -A Central cop Dustin Fetz allegedly instructed Zoe Brugger to lift her shirt and shake out her bra to see if she was hiding any drugs. No drugs were found on her or inside the car. State attorney, Jerry Hill has called for an internal investigation and says there was no reason to even suspect that Brugger was carrying drugs.


Michael Vagnini, former Milwaukee cop, gets over 2 years in jail for illegal strip searches


June 22, 2013 (MILWAUKEE) – A Milwaukeecop named Michael Vagnini was convicted of performing illegal strip searches and body-cavity searches on dozens of suspects has been sentenced to more than two years in prison. Three other cops were charged with Vagnini. They were also suspended with pay pending trials later this year.

Maywood Cop Sentenced for Sexually Assaulting Women


Maywood California cop Ryan Allen West was sentenced Tuesday to 19 years in state prison for sexually assaulting five women while on duty. West pleaded no contest May 15 to two counts of forcible rape and four counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object.

Stephen Olenchak, a Davie Florida cop convicted of sexual battery


Stephen Olenchak, a Davie Florida cop convicted of sexual battery and sentenced to 10 years in prison, will not be released pending his appeal, a judge ruled this week Judge Jeffrey Levenson said Olenchak is a "significant flight risk". A Broward County jury convicted Olenchak in April on charges he molested a 19-year-old family member four years ago while his wife and 4-year-old son slept in the same bed.

of a woman without her consent, a sex crime under Maryland law.  If convicted he

 could face jail time and be listed on the state’s sex-offender registry. Adams faces three counts of visual surveillance with prurient intent, and each carries a maximum possible penalty of one year in jail and a $2,500 fine.

A federal appeals court says the Grand Junction Colorado police department and cop Glenn Coyne, could have done a better job of dealing with a cop accused of raping a woman, but it is affirming a ruling that she hasn't shown that the officer's supervisors should be held liable for the alleged attack. Coyne responded to the woman’s  911 call in 2009 about an altercation, then  heraped her during a visit the next night. Coyne committed suicide days later. He had been accused of sexual assault before.


A Maywood cop named Ryan Allen West was sentenced to 19 years

A Maywood cop named Ryan Allen West was sentenced to 19 years in state prison after pleading no contest to sexually assaulting five women while on duty over a two-year period starting in 2006. He pleaded no contest to five felonies including two counts of rape and three counts of penetration of a foreign object. The victims were 20 to 50 years old. At one point, West faced a total of 42 counts but under the plea deal accepted by Superior Court Judge George Lomeli, 37 of them were dismissed. West admitted to sexually assaulting the five women.

 Brian Thomas, a suspended Cranford cop, agreed to forfeit his job and was placed on two years probation after admitting in court that he harassed a woman while he was on duty. Thomas was also placed on two years probation after he admitted having inappropriate communications with a woman. Thomas was originally charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual contact and second-degree official misconduct for a June 22, 2011 incident while he was on duty and in uniform.

Philadelphia authorities have arrested a man for allegedly intimidating a victim in the rape

Philadelphia authorities have arrested a man for allegedly intimidating a victim in the rape case against Philadelphia former police officer Richard DeCoatsworth. Manuel Maldonado pulled a gun on one of the women who was allegedly assaulted by DeCoatsworth, telling her not to testify. DeCoatsworth is accused of raping two women on May 18, 2013. 

Cambridge cop Carlton Brittingham Jr. has been indicted by a grand jury and faces a list of rape and sex offense charges for an incident in September.

"The attempted second -degree rape is the top count of 20 years. He is charged with the actual second-degree rape, and attempted second-degree rape and then he is charged with a myriad of sex offense charges: second-degree assault, false imprisonment, sodomy and attempted sodomy," said Wicomico County Assistant State's Attorney Kristen Schultz.
