A Leesburg police officer has been arrested following a
months-long investigation into an allegation of sexual misconduct.
On Wednesday afternoon, agents with the Florida Department of
Law Enforcement executed an arrest warrant on Henri Bart Larue, 25, for sexual
battery by a law enforcement officer with a firearm.
The Leesburg Police Department was made aware of the allegation
by a department member in early October of last year. Since then, an internal
investigation was opened by the department and a request was made to the FDLE
to conduct a parallel investigation.
"The allegations were of a criminal nature and are taken
very seriously by the administration of the Leesburg Police Department,"
said Leesburg Police Captain Rob Hicks.
Larue was originally employed with the Leesburg Police Department on March 15, 2012 and was placed on paid administrative leave October 5, 2012 immediately following the criminal allegations.
