A suspended South Bend Police Officer, accused of sexual misconduct on
the job, is getting his day in court.
Jeffrey Chester faces two felony counts of official misconduct. His trial
started Tuesday afternoon.
One woman Tuesday testified that Chester touched her inappropriately and
"flipped up her dress" during a pat down search last September.
The woman said she felt violated and reported the incident later the same
day.
Attorneys for Chester pointed out that Chester specifically offered to
call a female officer to the scene before conducting the search, but the woman
said no.
The defense also pointed to apparent inconsistencies in previous
statements, as to how long the woman said that inappropriate touching lasted.
