EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A police officer in southwestern
Illinois' Wood River is accused of soliciting a sex act from a woman in
exchange for his help in an investigation.
A Madison County grand jury on Thursday indicted 32-year-old
Jeremy Elliott on charges of felony official misconduct.
The county's state's attorney's office says Elliott
committed the misconduct involving a 29-year-old woman in his official capacity
as a police officer in Wood River, northeast of St. Louis.
Elliott is suspended from the police force without pay.
Online court records don't show whether Elliott has an
attorney. Elliott does not have a listed home telephone number.
The charge in punishable by up to five years in prison.
