Readstown police chief to return from Nebraska to face misconduct charges

VIROQUA, Wis. -- The Readstown police chief arrested in Nebraska after being charged with misconduct in office and six misdemeanors will soon be returned to Vernon County.

Shay Larson was arrested March 2 near Elm Creek, Nebraska, at a truck stop where he had stopped while working his other job as an over-the-road trucker.

According to court documents, Larson is accused of using his position as police chief to receive sexual favors. He is also accused of lying to investigators.

Vernon County Sheriff John Spears tells News 8 a team is heading to Nebraska today, and are expected to bring Larson back to Viroqua Wednesday.

Larson may appear in court later this week.
